高炉セメントを使用したコンクリートは水和反応が普通コンクリートよりも長くかかることから、コンクリート養生時にひび割れが発生しにくく、また、硫酸塩に対して抵抗性があることから、海洋土木・建築の基礎・大型土木工事等に広く活用されています。副産物であるため、新たにCO2を発生させずにクリンカー代替とすることができ、環境にも大きく貢献する商品です。高炉水砕スラグはセメント混合原料として使用される他、コンクリート用細骨材・肥料等幅広く利用されています。
この他にも、高炉から産出されるスラグとしては高炉徐冷スラグが、セメント原料の粘土代替・道路用路盤材・コンクリート用粗骨材として使用されています。

The Blast Furnace Slag which is secondary produced at the steel manufacturers in Japan has been extremely appreciated in the world cement market as a cement mixing material with its stable quality and high performance. Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS) is produced by blowing the high pressure water against the melting slag. We are using GBFS mainly as a mixing material to produce slag cement, after grinding it to the powder.
Due to the longer time of hydration reaction, the concrete using the slag cement has less opportunity to occur cracks compared with the concrete made from OPC. And due to the characteristic to resist against sulfate attack, slag cement is openly utilized to the marine concrete product, mass concrete product, and the basement of the building construction. GBFS is an originally by-product of steel and it can become the substitute of clinker without producing any CO2 emission, therefore GBFS is treated as an environmentally friendly material.
GBFS has been used not only for the mixing material into cement, but also as the fine aggregate for concrete and also as the fertilizer for agriculture.
Other than GBFS, we have Air Cooled Slag (ACS) produced by steel manufacturer. ACS is used for the substitute material of clay, which is one of the raw materials of clinker, basement of the road, and coarse aggregate for concrete, etc.
We are exporting Granulated Blast Furnace Slag, Slag Powder, and Air Cooled Slag from Japan to all over the world by using general bulk carriers or aggregate dedicated carriers.
